Summary

With the start of spring rapidly approaching, things are actually happening in the gallery again! :eager: A bunch of things, actually! Here's a few!

TheEmoticonGallery - March Summary 2015Hello Everyone!
I'm happy to say that things have gone quite well for the first month. We have 41 members and 57 watchers! Hopefully we will continue to grow as we have more to offer. For now, here is the latest in the community!
CONTEST/EVENT ANNOUNCEMENTS
The EmoticonOpus is soon to be up and running again! If you're not familiar with it, it is a hosting group for community member run contests. The contests typically run for a week or two and offer prizes collected by the host. You can head over there and check out past contests/entries, and if you're interested send them a note you'd like to host. The group was a wonderful place to get creative juices flowing. It's time to get them flowing again!

Summary

With the start of the month of November, comes one of the most looked forward to emote-related projects all year: NaNoEmo! NaNoEmo for this year is already underway with multiple emoticonists participating.

November NaNoEmo 2014November is approaching fast and Mirz123 and I are happy to announce that the November NaNoEmo will be running this year!
What is NaNoEmo?
NaNoEmo is a fun emoticon challenge hosted every November to match up with NaNoWriMo in the literature community. Over the last 3 years we have had a fair number of emoticonists taking part and some fantastic emotes appearing all through the designated month.
The main purpose of the challenge is to encourage emoticonists to make emotes throughout the month of November. The most common challenge undertaken is to make 30 emotes in 30 days, though others choose to set alternative targets which better suit their other commitments or art style.
Whilst our previous NaNoEmo event hosted earlier this year was restricted to only visual purpose emotes, the November event returns to the 'normal' format where any emote style is accepted. So it is completely up to you whether you o

There's also a few other events going on that you should take part in, or help promote! :dummy:

2014 Emoticonist Advent Calendar InfoWelcome to the 2014 Emoticonist Advent Calendar!
:santa: This year, I volunteered to take over the project because Krissi001 discovered she was unable to due to time constraints.  Bear with me, as it's my first time organizing such a project. :slow:
:snowflake: What is an Advent Calendar?  An advent calendar depicts the 24 days in December ending on Christmas Day. :dummy:
:snowflake: Okay, so what's special about an Emoticonist Advent Calendar?  It's special because the calendar's days are filled with things made by anyone who makes emotes, or emoticons!
:snowflake: Who can sign up for this awesome project? Anyone who can create an emote!  Skill doesn't matter, but you must be willing to commit to the day you choose. :stare:
:snowflake: Will we be able to do animated entries?  As it's my first year and I'm quite unfamiliar with flash, thi

I'll also be adding some cool entries from NaNoEmo, and the recent submissions to the gallery in general very soon. Keep promoting and starting activity in the gallery, everyone! :happybounce:

On a personal note, sorry for the lack of DDs as of late, getting sick with multiple things and college have eaten up all my time. I'm hoping to find a lull in busy work to find some good stuff for DDs soon.

Summary

The start of school / university activities in September for many of us (myself included :grump:), seems to have brought a bit more of a lull to the gallery's activities, which is to be expected. Still, there's a handful of goings-on in the form of some contests. Also, some contests are concluding, so check those out as well! :eager:
